The FAC has three main pillars of work:
Development: To nurture and develop artists at all stages of their careers, all genres, ages and locations in the UK. We provide the safe and informative place for support, learning and navigating a career as an artist. We recognize artists as both creatives and entrepreneurs and as such, the FAC looks to support artists in both their personal and business development.
Thought Leadership: Artists are creatives and as such, we aim to push the boundaries of how music business can and should be done. Artists are at the heart of the music business ecosystem and we therefore play a central role in pushing for raised standards in the way music business operates. This ranges from seeking truly diverse representation and mentoring through to investigating the adoption of new technologies, innovation and good, progressive policies to improve business practice.
Policy and Lobbying: We are the voice of artists. We represent artists’ issues at the main tables in music business and legislation. The FAC sits on the UK Music Board, committees and within the Council of Music Makers (incorporating the MMF, BASCA, the MU and MPG. Both collectively and independently, we raise the artists’ voice on law and policy governing issues ranging from welfare and education to international trade, intellectual property and copyright, transparency, fair dealing and digital commerce. We input into developments in the UK and represent artist to members of the European Parliament and Commission, as directives on regional and digital commerce evolve into both domestic policy and regional law. As the FAC we have exciting opportunities and duties, to enhance the valuable role of music creators in the music business, UK economy and society.
So we need.. A motivated and highly organized person, willing to roll up their sleeves and spin a few plates, for both regular and ad-hoc tasks. The job will be divided largely between in-house marketing and administration (including some diary management, arranging meetings, liaising with contacts and associates and website and membership matters) and the development of the FAC’s presence and value for the artists at the heart of the music industry. You will primarily support the CEO and, ensure good communication and coordination with other team members, the Board, trade bodies, societies, innovators and industry players.
