ABOUT THE ROLE
The role of the CEO will be to lead the operations of the organisation and develop its strategy in conjunction with the board (consisting solely of respected recording artists), and the Artist In Residence (AIR)*. The FAC’s operations are structured around membership support, mentoring programs, thought leadership and advocacy.
This involves working with its team and membership to deliver grassroots events, exclusive mentoring and support while at all times fostering an artist-artist-ethos. Allied to this, the CEO shall deliver the FAC’s advocacy work in conjunction with the AIR to government, the broader music industry and related industries such as the technology industry and academia.
The CEO must possess a self-starter entrepreneurial attitude, shall be responsible for the governance of the organisation and will be required to lead fundraising efforts in conjunction with the AIR and Board on behalf of the FAC.
The candidate must have a deep knowledge and understanding of the music industry, both on a practical and strategic level to articulate the needs of the artist community to industry partners and government. The role also requires the flexibility to inspire and engage at all levels within the artist, business and political communities.
This is a pivotal time for the music industry as it shifts from old business models into the new and many of the issues that are currently playing out will influence an entire generation of artists. Now more than ever, it is essential that the artist community lead the discussions for a fairer industry. The FAC provides this collective voice for those artists and the CEO will have a central role to play in ensuring that voice is heard, loud and clear!
*The AIR is the rolling Artist in Residence Creative Executive Officer. A role unique to the FAC, keeping it fresh and relevant, creatively driving the organisation and connecting the FAC to new members and patrons.
