Licensing of Cover Versions in the UK - a guide by David Stopps.

David says, ‘‘Recording a cover version of someone else’s work is something that every artist should consider doing. There's a big demand for interesting alternative versions of known songs by other artists, particularly in the context of synch. Fans love this, especially if the cover has originally been recorded by an artist that the artist recording the cover admires. Two of my favourite covers are Howard Jones epic version of The Killers ‘Human’ which would bring the house down at the end of his live shows and the reggae version of Adele’s ‘Hello’ by Conkarah & Rosie Delmah.’’
